Effigy and 96.1 Rock Radio - Perfect Together. Well actually that's what we've been shooting for....okay, okay; let's start from the beginning. You guys have been rocking with us for the past year and you know that we always pride ourselves on playing EVERYTHING that rocks. In fact, we've had many people call our style exactly that......96.1 Rock. If you recall, 96.1 was there with us when we inaugurated Wild Wings Cafe back in December. It was a memorable night to say the least. You have all rocked with us many times and now we need your help so that we can rock some more with 96.1 Rock Radio.

So far so good eh? So it only seems fitting that when 96.1 Rock Radio recently decided to host a contest to find their house band that will rock the Downtown live series over the summer as well as host all of their special events for the next year, that we enter this thing with the same vigor, the same swagger that has been our trademark since we hit the local club scene. As you know, Effigy has recently been cited as one of the best rock cover bands by a local magazine and we want to continue to spread the word by entering this contest.

We have attached a link to 96.1's website detailing all the specifics about this contest. The next paragraph is pasted from the 96.1 website with the specific instructions for voting for your favorite cover band:

"{Five bands will be chosen and posted on 96rockonline.com for each voting week (5/5-5/9, 5/12-5/16, 6/2-6/6), during which 96rock listeners will vote on the top 3 bands to play at the next week's audition night (5/15, 5/22, 6/12). The top band from each audition night will then go on to the final event on June 19 at the Lincoln Theatre, at which the 96rock House Band will be chosen. Winners on audition nights and finals will be determined by a 96rock judge, a Deep South Entertainment judge, a Lincoln Theatre judge, and crowd appreciation determined by a decibel meter. All four components will carry 25% weight in total score."

The first step of this thing starts Monday, May 5th (ah, Cinco de Mayo - how fitting).....for Effigy to initially be accepted into this contest we have to have as many people as possible visit the site throughout the week and enter your vote to have us appear at one of the three preliminary auditions set up at the three local Carolina Ale House's (Cary, Wake Forest & North Raleigh). Vote early, and vote often.....it looks as if there's an infinite number of times you can vote, so the more votes cast, the better our chances of getting into an audition. Once at the audition, we'll need to "red line" their decibel meters by having all you great fans out there making as much noise as you can when we finish our sets.....and we know you can do it. Also, if for some reason we are not posted on their site Monday, keep checking back on a daily basis throughout the entire contest as they will be adding bands to the list for the next three weeks.

So here we are......ready to "take it to the next level" and we need each and every one of you to participate and help us show 96.1 Rock what you already know......that Effigy belongs in this contest....point blank. Tell your friends, tell your parents, sons, daugthers, co-workers, cousins, uncles, ex-wives, ex-husbands....well you get the idea. And tell EVERYONE you know no matter where they live. If they have access to the Internet, they can vote. Hell, I know a couple hundred votes are coming from many other states.....they can't be here in person, but they'll definitely be here in spirit.

Once we know the exact date of our audition (will be either 5/15, 5/22 or 6/12 - with finalists competing on 6/19) we then need to mobilize our legions of fans to rock the house while we're up there.

This is gonna be fun people......BUT we need to make the first cut so please, please, get as many people as you know to get online, find Effigy in the polls and vote, vote, vote. As always you have our undying gratitude.
